Five Layer Lasagna Recipe

Ingredients

  • Frozen lasagna shells (You can substitute for dried pasta shells).
  • Ground Beef 2lbs.
  • Marinara sauce 32 ounces or 2 jars of your favorite sauce.
  • Ricotta cheese 48oz.
  • 2 eggs beaten.
  • Italian Seasoning
    Onions (Approximately ½ onion diced).
  • Mozzarella Cheese, provolone, parmesan.
  • Salt.
  • Pepper.

Instructions

Dice onions and sauté until translucent about 3 minutes and add ground beef, salt, and pepper. Cook beef mixture until done and drain off extra fat from pan.

Add marinara sauce to beef and cook on low heat for about and hour to allow flavors to incorporate. Remove from stove and let cool.

In a separate bowl add ricotta cheese with eggs and add 2 tablespoons of Italian seasoning and mix well.

Using a ladle add beef mixture to the bottom of a 12×10 foil pan or comparable baking dish, then add your first layer of pasta. Next add Ricotta mixture to the top of the first layer. Add another layer of pasta and ladle beef mixture to the second layer and sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top. Repeat step 2 for the next two layers then top off the top layer with beef mixture and a generous amount of mozzarella cheese.

Pre heat oven to 350 degrees and cover lasagna with foil and place in oven for 35 – 40 minutes covered. When finished remove foil from lasagna and cook for an additional 10 -15 minutes until cheese on top is golden brown.
